Category 3 Riser Rated cable is most commonly used for telephone lines or other voice applications. Not recommended for data applications. Made of solid copper conductors to meet and exceed TIA/EIA cabling standards.
Riser Rated (CMR)
CMR cable is used in vertical applications such as runs between floors or through cable risers. Vertically installed Riser rated cables, when subjected to fire, prevent fire from travelling upwards. CM rated cables are not suitable for such applications.
Solid or Stranded?
Solid Cable is recommended for internal use, such as in between walls, between wiring closets, and for lengths over 25 feet. Recommended for use up to 100 meters (328 feet).
Stranded Cable is flexible alternative to solid cable. It is most commonly used to connect PC's and other end devices to routing devices in residential locations. Because of higher attenuation (signal fall-off) it is best for use in runs of 25 feet or less.
